OPEN LETTER TO PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE:
SEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5

Greetings to all. 2018 is underway. On January 7 the church was notified in the morning service that the Pastor Search Committee would be in earnest to narrow its focus to the man God will call to be its Senior Pastor. We met on January 8, prayed and prepared to move into this final phase.

In as soon as 120 days (End of May?) Glenview Church COULD be poised to call a new Senior Pastor. Let that sink in for a minute.

The Pastor Search Committee has been diligent in seeking the Lord for the man who can best shepherd this church. It has been an inspirational process as we prayed through and poured over almost 300 candidates. It is now about to get even better. There have been many personal travails among us [even so, our church family has travailed]: sickness, surgeries, med procedures, financial reversals, job losses, family crisis of many kinds, loss of family members, family members with medical problems and some very unspoken. But what I see is a hard working tenacious group of godly men and women, who have put shoulder to the wheel and will see through to the end the engagement of a Senior Pastor.

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (1 Peter 1:7)

As you are preparing for the February 5 meeting, please keep in mind the main objective of our meeting will be to narrow the search to those few candidates we believe God would have us engage personally and begin the actual selection phase of the process. As difficult as it may be we should all be prepared to pick 5 candidates from the list of 32, that we have before us. You may pick fewer, but no more than 5 each...maybe one alternate.

The candidates you choose should be ranked in order #1, #2, #3 and so forth. Be prepared with one or two sentences for each, as to why he is a favorite for you. We will...
1) review each committee member's rankings,
2) put them on a board,
3) then step back and look for the patterns that God puts before us

We will decide from these how many and who will be engaged for initial interviews going forward.

PRAYER:
LORD, GIVE US EYES TO SEE AND EARS TO HEAR
WHAT YOU ARE SHOWING US AS WE MEET FEBRUARY 5.

Review the Job Description and the Church Ministry Profile we wrote. These two documents contain all the elements of the church research done over several months and compiled in four or five other documents.

It will be amazing to see how God adds to the prayer and diligence shown
in this process and may he lead us clearly through this final phase.
